You should always wash your hair extensions before having them put into your regular hair. This gets off any processing residue and leaves the hair as healthy as possible. It is normal to have the hair weft shed a bit but it shouldn’t leave a big gap in the weave that would look obvious once it is woven in. If the hair extensions are long, you can expect some of the curl to go out of them over time. Softer hair doesn’t hold a curl as much as stiffer hair does.
Wigs have been around for a long time and cover the scalp completely. There have been many new advances in wigs and many look so realistic, they can be worn at nighttimes and shampooed whilst still on your head. Wigs can come in human hair, synthetic products or even horse hair. Only the human hair works well with things like curling irons and flat irons—because of the heat factor. If you want to leave the wig as it is, you can use synthetic hair but if you want to do something special with it, such as curl it, it must be made from human hair.
One nice trend is the appearance of front lace hair and wigs that really look as though the hair is coming from your scalp. The hair is inserted into lace at the front (or sides and back) of the wigs and the lace is cut back to create a natural hairline. If you buy a wig that has lace all around, you can put it in a ponytail for a natural and carefree look.
Wigs come in all styles and colours. You can get long hair or short hair wigs; you can get them in all different colours and you can get them in curly, wavy or straight forms. What you get is what is important to you in a wig.
